sharing life experiences and feelings through art and stories

Cogviva is an online platform where anyone can submit a personal story about their physical or mental struggles and how their life has changed because of it. We then pair the stories with custom artwork to verbally and visually communicate the emotion the storyteller is feeling.

Psychological research suggests that people who label their emotions are able to process the emotion better. We hope that Cogviva can help readers feel that what is happening to them is both meaningful and beautiful.

Stories range from positive ones about how a child is spending more time with his family before going off to college, or challenging stories about how one is impacted by stroke or when their business is not doing well due to the government’s shelter-in-place order.

Arya Tandon is a freshman at the University of Southern California. She is moved by the art of storytelling and graphic design.

Over summer of 2019, she went to the Rhode Island School of Design Pre-College Program where she was able to elaborate on her skills in art. She recently won a Gold Key award in the Scholastic Art & Writing Awards for a piece featured in this website.

Arya created Cogviva.com to share real people’s stories and emotions about their life experiences and pair them with an artwork that displays that same emotion. She hopes to break down the barrier behind showing emotion on difficult topics.
