This story is told from the perspective of a granddaughter, a niece, and a cousin, all in one. She misses her home away from home and wishes to see her extended family soon.

India and California are on complete opposite sides of the Earth. This fact is all the more difficult to cope with when almost all of my family is in India leaving my parents and my brother here, in California. Every summer since I was born we would take a trip to India to see everyone.

I have flashbacks of running to the video store with my cousins; all four of us cramming into our grandparents’ bed to watch the movie we just rented. Or when we played soccer out on the lawn as the sun was setting. Or when we had a family lunch where we all dressed up a bit for fun and sat outside and laughed together.

But that is all those moments are, for now, flashbacks and memories as I hope that in the near future we can all be together again. It has been a year since I saw them and the time change also makes setting a time to facetime a hassle.
