This story is told from the perspective of a junior in high school who is already navigating herself through the difficulties of college applications and now has an added fear because of her delayed SAT test.

I was scheduled to take my SAT on March 14th, but due to the coronavirus, it got cancelled. I was prepared to get my first SAT over with, and my heart sank when I got the email from the College Board. My months of SAT prep and hard work turned into more and more months. I signed up for the May and June SATs hoping that I would be able to get it over with. Turns out, the virus doesn’t work that way. As of right now, I have been studying for the SAT for a year and that just adds more pressure to doing well.

Some colleges are making their applications test optional, but that doesn’t really faze me. I am still studying and taking the SAT, I am just terrified to see my score. There is an added stress of making sure my college essays are perfect too since the admissions officers will be looking at those factors more than my grades and SAT from these past few months.

I am scared to see what will happen, but I am learning to just go with whatever hits me and make the most of it.
